Beth Tfiloh Camps
Transportation

Did you know that in addition to our large fleet of Baltimore County buses, Beth Tfiloh Camps has 4 buses that service Howard County? The average ride time from Howard County to camp is the same as Baltimore County. Read on to find out more.

Campers Getting Off the BusOur close proximity to many population centers means a reasonable riding time for our campers. In addition to the many staff who are aboard as passengers, two special counselors ride each bus to take roll, guide the driver on the route, monitor street crossing, help the campers get on and off the bus, and provide continuous supervision. These special bus counselors also make the bus ride enjoyable by leading singing and games along the way. Our buses are in constant communication with the bus company and the camp via radios and phones. We make our bus routes as efficient as possible by rerouting buses each summer.

Centralized pick-up/drop-off points are used for Kinder Camp and areas beyond our normal transportation zone, such as Howard and Carroll Counties in order to minimize the bus riding time. The exact locations of these centralized points, however, are not determined until early May when our registration is complete. In this way, we can locate the stops where they will be the most convenient and helpful to the greatest number of our camper families. Also, some campers in regular transportation areas may have corner pick-ups/drop-offs, because it is often not practical to send buses down dead-ends and long courts.

Kids on the BusExamples of past Kinder Stops include Chizuk Amuno Congregation, Beth Tfiloh School, Har Sinai Congregation, The Quarry, Timbergrove Elementary, and Chartley Shopping Center. In past summers our Howard County bus stops included Hammond High, Hickory Ridge Shopping Center, Bellows Spring Elementary School, Ilchester Elementary, St. John's Lane Elementary, Pointers Run Elementary, Centennial High School, and Clarksville Elementary. It is important to note that all of our central stops change every summer and are based on enrollment and where campers are more concentrated in population.
